During my second time at Nike, I was working in ACG and was asked to work on a collab with GM on their upcoming H3 Truck concept vehicle. More specifically they were looking for me and another designer to work with them on a custom, one-off tire that implemented dual compounds and specific traction and textures leveraging our experience in sticky trail shoes. We worked in the Hummer studio in Detroit onsite and sketched concepts, talked with engineers, and saw the entire truck take shape in full size clay model. It was an incredible experience and the final tire concept was then made with different colors connoting different rubber compounds for rock crawling and off-road performance. There had not been anything like this done before and as far as I’m aware tire manufacturer is doing multiple compound off road tires to this day.
