Nike Magneto Sunglasses

Designed for top level Nike Track and Field Athletes, named after a Superhero, what could go wrong? These glasses were ahead of their time and that’s what led to their demise. Small adhesive magnets were placed on the wearers temples and the sunglasses had small magnets in the temples so they locked into place on wearers face. Silicon vanes on the nose piece helped lock the glasses into place and were sweat and water proof in their function. The final design was done by IDEO, but I was responsible for the ideation, and have my name on the patent. Nike killed the project ultimately because it was considered too impractical but we met the goal of innovating in eyewear.
